From the Heart: Why Baby Raven Reads Matters

Stories for Every Child

Baby Raven Reads isn’t just for Indigenous families—it’s for everyone.

These books invite all readers to experience Southeast Alaska Native cultures through authentic storytelling—sharing knowledge, values, and creativity across generations.

Featuring the Work of Michaela Goade

One of the artists behind the series, Michaela Goade, has been part of Trickster Company since the beginning—designing our very first catalog.

Her work is immersive and alive, drawing readers into the ocean, forest, and seasons of Alaska. She later became the first Native American to receive the Caldecott Medal for We Are Water Protectors.

Every Purchase Gives Back

When you purchase a Baby Raven Reads book, you’re supporting more than a story.

A portion of proceeds goes directly to Sealaska Heritage Institute—funding language revitalization, cultural programs, and youth education.

Why It Matters

When children see themselves in books, it builds confidence, pride, and belonging.

When all children read these stories, it builds understanding.
