We caught up with sibling duo Rico and Crystal Worl, the creative force behind Trickster Company, for a behind-the-scenes look at everything they’ve been up to lately. Spoiler alert: it’s a lot.
🎨 Rico Worl: Always Dreaming, Always Building
What’s new with Rico?
“Some of it I’m keeping under wraps for now,” Rico says, “but I’ve been exploring ideas for Trickster Company’s future — especially the value of retail space and having a physical connection with our customers again.”
Rico is currently juggling multiple creative projects — from product design and tech exploration to mentorship planning and beyond:
-
🔥 Designing around the theme of warriorship, including logos and fashion pieces inspired by strength and resilience.
-
🛠️ Experimenting with new jewelry-making tech, including a fiber cutter. Keep an eye out for what’s coming next.
-
🎨 Returning to painting after years away from it: “I have an idea and vision for a painting — even though I don’t usually like painting,” he laughs.

What keeps you motivated?
“The dream is to someday take on creative projects just because I want to — no obligations. But for now, every project is refining my skills and building the future I want.”
On Trickster Company:
“Trickster Company is the home base. Everything else orbits around it. No matter what new projects I’m working on, it all comes back to Trickster’s values and vision.”
🔧 Rico’s Projects in the Works:
→ Patreon:
Rico stays connected with supporters through Patreon, offering early access, behind-the-scenes content, and exclusive perks.
“I’m exploring the next evolution — maybe exclusive handmade lapel pins or trading cards for subscribers. No promises yet — just ideas flowing.”

→ Studio Plans:
Early stages of designing a home studio with a long-term goal of mentoring the next generation of Indigenous designers.
“Not just formline — but teaching how to take a product from idea to manufacturing to market.”
→ Video Game Partnership:
Rico is joining a new video game project (still under wraps) to bring authentic Indigenous design to the gaming world.
“It’s early days, but there’s potential for collaboration — maybe even a Trickster product line tied to the game. It’s a risk, but one worth taking.”
🌟 Crystal Worl: Artist, Visionary, Everywhere at Once
We also caught up with Crystal Worl between meetings (and naps!) to hear about her latest adventures in art and design.
So Crystal, how’s it going?
“I’m good...Lots of meetings today. I just finished one with the Port of Seattle for a big project. And I’m applying for the Joan Mitchell Fellowship — that’s a huge honor.”
🎉 Crystal’s Current & Upcoming Projects:
-
✈️ Seattle Airport Installation: Working on a glass design project, learning and creating in Tacoma.
-
🎨 Anchorage Mural: Designing a mural for the historic McKinley Towers (summer 2026 install). She’ll be working with apprentices in Anchorage next summer — using the same high-res mural cloth as the Elizabeth Peratrovich mural in Juneau.
-
🧺 Rumpl Blanket Collab: Crystal’s popular “Raven, Moon and Stars” design is getting a re-release — plus three new blankets, including an “Eagle” design to bring balance. Named in Tlingit in collaboration with language experts.
-
🎶 Band Merch: Designing merchandise for local bands like Rain Dogs in Juneau.
-
📅 Events:
-
Hosting a First Friday at Anchorage Distillery on June 6.
-
Designing basketball jerseys for a youth camp in Sitka, Alaska this August — reconnecting with youth on the court she once designed.
-
🧠 On Being an Artist and Entrepreneur:
“There’s so much secret work behind the scenes — NDAs, contracts, all that boring but necessary stuff. But I love that I get to do art that represents my community and culture.”
🚀 Looking Ahead
From new tech and studio dreams to murals, mentorship, gaming, jewelry, and secret projects — Trickster Company is staying rooted in tradition while expanding in bold, new directions.
We can’t wait to share what’s next. Below is Crystal's glass project for the Port of Seattle.
