The Indigenous Women's Cause
Josephine skateboard designer Will Kozloff is an Unangan (Aleut), Dene (Athabaskan), and Dixie (Hillbilly) artist from Fairbanks, Alaska. Primarily a street artist, he focuses on work about Native issues and history. Currently he concentrates on private, more personal projects as he works to overcome imposter syndrome and begin publishing again.

“Josephine was a project I began around 2018 to raise awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). Thanks to the advocacy of artists and activists, the issue has received far more attention—mostly online—but Native women remain especially vulnerable in real life, facing threats from trafficking, abuse, and even cover-ups."

“As individuals our contributions are often small and local, but so is much of the violence. Reading about MMIW, donating to homeless or women’s shelters, and speaking about victims to reduce normalization all help. Progress has been made, but communities still depend on our sustained urgency and consistency."

Skateboards are cold pressed and constructed of 7 plies of 100% American/Canadian Maple (wood species-Acer Saccharum). Size 8.0.

About the Shape: Steep nose and tail with a deep center concave. Abrupt transitions abound; these help to stiffen the deck and give it a quick snap. Nose and tail flip start quickly after the outer truck holes, exaggerating the steepness.
