It comes from an ancient Tlingit story that was edited by Johnny Marks, Hans Chester, David Katzeek, and Nora and Richard Dauenhauer. Illustrated by Tlingit artist Michaela Goade, the 2021 Caldecott Medalist and the 2020 Kirkus Prize Finalist.  Written for children ages 4-7 years old in Lingít and English. 

Shanyaak'utlaax: Salmon Boy represented the State of Alaska at the Parade of States at the 2021 Library of Congress’ National Book Festival, an event to showcase each state through a book.
